A bit about me

For the past 11 years and counting I have run my own business Arganic from a London base with a global influence. I launched Arganic with just £8,000 and it has organically attracted the likes of celebrities such as Mick Jagger to stockists such as Selfridges, Harrods, Whole Foods, M&S, Ocado, luxury hotels and more.

My company started as an experiment to try to create a more sustainable business model and pave the way for change through setting an example. It is tied in with many of my personal interests to include the power of eating habits, culture, human welfare, health and sustainability.

Born in London to Iraqi immigrant and refugee parents, as a child I felt deeply grateful that I had the privilege to be born in the UK and I promised myself I would never take this for granted.

Due to personal circumstances, I had to learn how to be independent from a very young age and I’ve been working in varied professional roles which have challenged me since I was 16. This includes;

  • Working directly with children from disadvantaged backgrounds through government schemes.

  • A role at Goldman Sachs through a graduate scheme post mathematics degree.

  • Taking part in an MTV programme.

  • A role in the marketing department at a top London University.

  • Launching my own business in 2012.

My strongest subjects at school were mathematics and art. I see things in formulas and patterns but at the same time I am deeply guided by intuition. I mix detail with bigger picture visualisation, flipping as needed. I adopt a calculated risk taking approach and don’t believe that one size fits all.

It’s been a wild journey with many bumps in the road to get to where I am now. At most, if not all the significant moments in my life, I felt that I never fit in or that there wasn’t space for someone like me. When you live a life aligned with purpose and take a leap of faith you can overcome obstacles with the strength that your passion fuels. While it is challenging to live authentically and curate your own path, it’s easier than living with regrets.

It feels natural at this point in my life to use my experience to help empower others.

Outside of work I love to cook, explore people and places, skate and play chess.

Instead of trying to fit into a square, create your own shape and take up your space!
